Laying cement mosaic tiles
Here, VIA application technician master tiler Oliver Grimm shows you how to lay VIA cement mosaic and terrazzo tiles. From preparation and mixing of the VIA tile adhesive to installation using the buttering-floating method, he demonstrates every step necessary to achieve a perfect result. This video is also informative for builders and architects.
Preparation
The exact size of the room is checked again and the angle of placement is determined.
The appropriate amount of glue is applied according to the information on the packaging of the VIA plate glue. The VIA plate grounding binds the residual dust and reduces the suction capacity of highly sucking surfaces. For cement stripes the grounding is diluted in a ratio of 1:3 with water, for calcium sulfate grounding it must be applied undiluted.
The glue is applied to the floor/wall and plate with a 10-notched trowel. As a result, a sufficient adhesive thickness is achieved to a smooth surface without overtone when pressed. It is imperative to apply the buttering-floating procedure.
Cement mosaic and terrace plates are traditionally laid with as little joint width as possible. This means that a large coating is created and patterns without disturbing fitting grid are validated and the edges protect each other.
Align the plates carefully to avoid over teeth. Cuts must be done dry with a diamond sheet. Garnishments can also be carried out precisely with dry cutting, so that even clean shocks are possible, e.g. on the outer edges.
It is important to cut the plates dry to avoid the absorption of moisture. Only measure and cut dry plates in the edge area after placing the middle pattern.
The newly laid coating must not be washed with water.
For the laying of VIA plates only the VIA plate adhesive should be used.
The fug mortar is made from two parts of trass cement and one part of quartz sand with the addition of water in a yogurt-like consistency and applied on the grassy plate floor.
The disposal should be made only after the plates have dried out, so that the shrinkage does not cause flanking.
With a folding board, the folding mortar is pressed into the joints. Fug mortar until the mortar stops falling, i.e. until it is completely filled.
Please note: Do not use finished clamps that contain a plastic component, as they could lead to a grey veil.
Mineral impregnation and plate oil
For the impregnation we offer the plate oil and the mineral impregnating.
Impregnation means that an agent enters the capillaries and prevents unwanted substances from entering.
The impregnation of the plates is not different from natural stone or other open-porous materials.
Mineral impregnation
The mineral impregnation has the advantage that it can be easily wiped with a floor wiper in the crossroads. The main component of mineral impregnation is water glass. This leads to a flattening of the surface.
It changes the color depth of the plates.
The water glass forms crystals with the limestone of the soil (Kristallisation).
The consistency of the mineral impregnation is as thin as water. This allows the impregnation to absorb well into the surface.
The impregnation does not prevent the penetration of acidic products.Acid resistance is achieved only when the limestone surface of the plates is separated from the acid by a coating.
If you want to work with acidic cleansers, the limestone surface should be protected by a layering agent.
Here the cement mosaic plate behaves like marble, travertine, terrazzo etc.
You can find the VIA mineral impregnation in our online shop.
Plate oil
The plate oil is characterized by the fact that it hardens very strongly. It penetrates into the capillaries, closing them very effectively.
By impregnating with oil, the colors are "fired" or deepened.
The impregnation does not prevent the penetration of acidic products. Acid resistance is achieved only when the limestone surface of the plates is separated from the acid by a coating.
Because it contains very little solvents, it requires increased manual care.
The VIA plate oil can be found in our Online Shop.
